The World Heart Day


The World Heart Day: “Team up for Healthy Hearts.”  The last Sunday of every September is celebrated as the World Heart Day in compliance to WHO’s call to create public awareness of risks factors for heart diseases and stroke and to promote prevention. More than 100 countries across the globe every year are actively participating in the World Heart Day. Cardiovascular diseases – including heart attacks and strokes are the world’s largest killer claiming 17.5 million human lives a year.  As in the past, to disseminate the necessary and timely information to the patients and general public at large, Norvic International Hospital organized an awareness programme on September 29, 2007 amidst various activities. A joint interaction among heart patients, cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons took place. Some of the patients who underwent complex Angioplasty, heart surgeries and other cardiac procedures at Norvic in the past and who are now leading a normal life shared their views and experiences at the function. The function was addressed by consultant cardiologist and the executive director of Norvic, Dr. Bharat Rawat while the welcome address was given by Dr. M. K. Malla, The Hospital Director of Norvic. On the occasion, outstanding personalities representing both medical and non-medical field were felicitated.
